Inta is a bruesque, crusty woman who lives alone on the edge of a picturesque marsh. One day her solitude is intruded upon by the arrival of a documentary filmmaker. In his eyes Inta is an outstanding would-be film protagonist but the wild woman would rather put a curse on the importunate intruder than let herself be filmed. But the filmmaker's persistance finally succeeds in melting the ice of Inta's heart... just in order to break it soon afterwards.

Inspired by works of Anatole France. According to Oriental legends, Talmud and the medieval books of Cabala, Lilith was not created from Adam's rib like Eve but from clay like he himself.
Lilith wasn't stained by Original Sin. She has no soul, and she is immortal. Lilith assumes different names, she can change her appearance and take possession of men against their will. Once it's accomplished, she leaves her victims forever, marking them for either spiritual, or physical death. Whatever she does is neither Good nor Evil. She is made of an altogether different matter.
The first line of the story is set in the Renaissance era (1664), where Theophilius (Ville Haapasalo), an art dealer from Riga, sets sail to his old business partner Borgraph (Yuri Tsurilo). He becomes possessed bythe mystical housekeeper Nida (Olga Shepitskaya) who, in some strange way, looks similar to the woman from an old painting he is going to sell.
The second part jumps to the 19th century (1883) to be set in Russian Empire and France. The young aristocrat Ari (Danila Kozlovsky) hurries to his mentor Safrak (Lembit Ulfsak) to confess his sins. His passion for the mysterious Persian beauty Leila (Anna Azarova) has led to madness of his good friend Paul (Regnars Vaivars) and suicide of his own bride. After hearing his confession priest's actions seemstrange.
And the last part of the movie takes place nowadays, in Riga (1990), where a middle-aged installation artist Franz (Aleksey Serebryakov) is lost somewhere in-between fantasies, artifacts and real life events. He is avoiding to fall into relationships and does not understand the meaning of his existence. Will he manage to withstand the temptation of "The Daughter of Lilith" – young gypsy Lola?
Oskars (almost 18 years old) and Matīss (already 18 years old) are working as pizza bakers. That’s a temporary job for them. They have huge future plans – studies at e.g. Oxford etc.. But they turn their lives upside down in one evening. Most probably they will be charged guilty even in kidnapping of a child.
Geneva, Switzerland 1935. Europe is struggling to be united as one yet the Woodrow- Wilson’s idea of a united Europe by the means of the League of Nations is being enforced. American missionaries since the 1920’s are trying to introduce the Europeans with the new sport called basketball.

Meanwhile in Latvia, the coach Baumanis is convinced that he can gather the team and take it to Geneva. However on his journey he quickly learns that triumph and defeat are a part of the game. Baumanis faces many difficulties, as well as unexpected help from those closest to him.

Miracles become reality in Riga, especially if a lonely soul craves it at Christmas Eve. The same way, “The Aunties” film characters’ lives - full of loneliness, search and anxiety, are changed by sudden appearance of the three aunties, that are actually angels – Vera (Faith), Nadya (Hope), Lyba (Love).
At the Christmas Eve morning the Aunties appear in Riga at the old painter’s doorstep and bring a whole swirl of action. For one day the aunties accomplish more than a lot. A lonely, desperate pensioner, who was close to death, unexpectedly finds a family, starts to do sports and even to travel. His granddaughter Masha, who was nearly fooled by a Latvian gold-digger, find her true love (Nikolay Efremov). An Arab sheikh, who got lost in snowy fields and who nearly was deceived by the criminals (Ivars Kalnins and Nikita Efremov), finally closes a successful deal and falls in love with a fiery red hair beauty – “the queen of suburbs”, as she notices herself - Lylka. Some romantic adventures are expected for some other characters, as well – for a perfect institute concierge (Mirdza Martinsone), for a plumber Fyodor (Kamil Larin), for mandarin seller (Mikhail Efremov), who also, somehow, become a part of this small, intelligent family’s story.
This is the story about Miracle, which can be met by each of us on Riga narrow streets. Kind humor, dynamic optimism and an excellent performance of the actors will create the mood for the New Year’s Eve, and moreover, will give a charge of a positive energy for the whole year.
Finally, after the 15 years long period of silence – the music for the film was wrote the fabulous maestro Raimonds Pauls.
The film is a story based on historical events about two outstanding personalities of the 20th century, Sergei Eisenstein and Isaiah Berlin, both of whom were born and spent their childhood in Riga but soon left the city. Following the course of the lives of both protagonists against the background of the dramatic events of the first half of the 20th century, the film shows how one of them became the „most brilliant film director of his generation” in the totalitarian USSR and the other „the most brilliant thinker of his generation” in liberal UK.
The old witch Black Mother seeks to control the world thorough sadness, by draining the tears of all who suffer loss. Her latest target is the Princess, whose demise should prompt enough tears to grant her absolute power.
During a picnic in the woods, Black Mother entraps the Princess and soon encases her in a glass coffin. But her powerful nemesis, old White Father, intercedes to set up an obstacle. A new teacher, Zane (Inga Alsiņa-Lasmane) tries to befriend the class she is mentoring, but she goes too far -- at Zane's parties and on her field trips, the border between the teacher and the students begins to blur and dissolve. Modris is a 17-year-old with a gambling addiction which makes his relationship with mother difficult. Things come to a head in the middle of the Nordic winter when Modris pawns his mother’s electric heater so he can play the slot machines. She betrays him to the police, and as he begins his adventures in the Latvian justice system, Modris becomes determined to find the father he never knew.
The film is based on true events that took place in the vicinity of Līvāni in 1945 after the return of the Soviet occupation. The Catholic priest Antons Juhņevičs served in the Vanagi parish, and he hid local men in the household premises of the church to let them escape from the mobilisation in the Red Army. Having found himself to be in conflict with the ruling power due to his conviction, he was forced to decide on a radical step.
The film "Alias Loner" is a documentary based on historic facts; however, the scene-setting dramatic events are just a reason to talk about the existential choices of a human life. Faithfulness and heroism so closely followed by betrayal and cowardice, or a simple wish to survive – all of this is present in the fates of Antons Juhņevičs and his companions-in-arms.
This is the debut film of the film director and script writer Normunds Pucis.
