40-year-old Bertrand has been suffering from depression for the last two years and is barely able to keep his head above water. Despite the medication he gulps down all day, every day, and his wife's encouragement, he is unable to find any meaning in his life. Curiously, he will end up finding this sense of purpose at the swimming pool, by joining an all-male synchronised swimming team.
At first glance, Mica seems a perfectly normal boy. But first glances can often be deceiving... For one, Mica's house is now a museum honouring Guillermo Garibai, the legendary Mexican crooner. Mica spends most of his time there, giving guided tours to aging Garibai fans. But stranger still, Mica smells. He smells like fish. Numerous doctors, his life-long therapist and even his own parents are at a loss. No one wants to be Mica's friend. Girls won't talk to him. His life appears pointless, uneventful, doomed. That is, until Laura walks into it.
At day, they are down-to-earth employees: wholesale meat buyers, ticket collectors, teachers, and representatives of other serious occupations. They are at an age when the twenties’ dream of becoming a rock star has come to an end. So their option is to resort to their potential of self-irony and... join the male synchronized swimming team. After all, it comes a bit close to being in a rock-band. The men are positive they have founded a unique troupe – the only all-male synchronized swim team in the world when they are forced to realize groups like this exist almost everywhere in the world – Japan, Ukraine, Netherlands, France, and elsewhere. Besides, the discipline’s first championship is drawing near.
