Inta is a bruesque, crusty woman who lives alone on the edge of a picturesque marsh. One day her solitude is intruded upon by the arrival of a documentary filmmaker. In his eyes Inta is an outstanding would-be film protagonist but the wild woman would rather put a curse on the importunate intruder than let herself be filmed. But the filmmaker's persistance finally succeeds in melting the ice of Inta's heart... just in order to break it soon afterwards. Directed by: Ivars Zviedris, Inese Kļava

The Baltic documentary cinema played an important role during Soviet time. It put its emphasis on the visuals, used metaphors where the official film language was propaganda but was at the same time poetic declarations to Life and Humanity. In this film outstanding works are presented as are their directors - personalities as they look and think decades after their masterpieces were made: Herz Frank, Uldis Brauns, Ivars Seleckis, Mark Soosaar, Andres Sööt, Robertas Verba, Henrikas Šablevičius and Aivars Freimanis.

There is a popular Latvian folksong which begins with the phrase "I was singing out high on a mountain". The irony of it is that according to physical geography there are no mountains in Latvia. So what exactly is the place where the Latvians are "singing out"? It may be safely said that it's the same place where they are skiing. That's how we make mountains out of molehills...Snow-covered mountains, to be sure.
