Joseph Crowley (born March 16, 1962) is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for New York's 14th congressional district since 2013. He represented the 7th district from 1999 to 2013 and has been Chair of the House Democratic Caucus since 2017. He also has been Chair of the Queens County Democratic Party since 2006, succeeding Thomas J. Manton. He previously served in the New York State Assembly from 1987 to 1998. On June 26, 2018, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez defeated Crowley in the Democratic primary for his seat.
