Kyle Newman (born March 16, 1976) is an American filmmaker and author, whose directorial work encompasses a number of feature films including the action-comedy Barely Lethal, starring Oscar nominees Hailee Steinfeld and Samuel L. Jackson alongside Jessica Alba and Sophie Turner, for producer Brett Ratner, released by A24 Films; Fanboys, a Star Wars-themed comedy starring Kristen Bell, produced by Kevin Spacey and distributed by The Weinstein Company; as well as The Hollow, a modern retelling of Washington Irving's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. He has directed music videos for some of the industry’s top artists including Taylor Swift (“Style”) Lana Del Rey (“Summertime Sadness”) and created the video content for Taylor Swift’s The 1989 World Tour featuring Lena Dunham, Cara Delevingne, Selena Gomez and more. In 2016 Newman produced the critically acclaimed documentary Raiders: The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made, about three teenagers who set out to recreate Steven Spielberg’s classic Raiders of the Lost Ark shot-for-shot in 1982, which was distributed by Drafthouse Films. He is also the co-creator, co-story writer of the upcoming animated feature film Gnome Alone. 2018 sees the release of his first book Dungeons & Dragons Art & Arcana: A Visual History via Ten Speed Press/ Penguin Random House in association with Wizards of the Coast. This official illustrated history provides an unprecedented look at the evolution of the one of the world's most iconic game brands, showing its continued influence on pop culture and fantasy. Newman, an honors graduate of New York University’s School of Film/TV, has written and/or directed for clients including Microsoft, Interscope Records, Starz Entertainment, The Coca-Cola Company, Starwars.com, Entertainment Weekly, Big Machine Records, Pacific Life Insurance, Games For Windows, Titan Publishing, Universal Republic Records, Saturday Group and Lucasfilm, Ltd.
