Tom Gores (born: Tewfiq Georgious, Arabic: توفيق جورجيوس; born July 31, 1964) is an American businessman and investor. He is a billionaire with an estimated current net worth of $3.7 billion according to the 2017 Forbes list of the Forbes 400. He is the founder of Platinum Equity, a private equity firm with headquarters in Beverly Hills. On June 1, 2011, Tom Gores and Platinum Equity became the owners of the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) Detroit Pistons.
