Pain and Glory tells of a series of reencounters experienced by Salvador Mallo, a film director in his physical decline. Some of them in the flesh, others remembered: his childhood in the 60s, with his parents to a village in Valencia, the first desire, his first adult love in the Madrid of the 80s, the pain of the breakup of that love while it was still alive and intense. In recovering his past, Salvador finds the urgent need to recount it, and in that need he also finds his salvation.
While many dream of fame and recognition, they rarely understand the true cost of stardom. When the details of an American TV star's private life become public, his career takes a dramatic turn. A decade after the death of the star, a young actor reminisces the written correspondence he shared with him, as well as the impact those letters had on both their lives.
Chris Brander (Ryan Reynolds) has it all -- money, good looks and a flashy job as an LA music executive. But things weren't always this way...
In high school Chris was shy and overweight. The bright spot in his life was his friendship with Jamie Palamino (Amy Smart), the hottest girl in high school. The two best buds were inseparable. But Chris harbored a secret -- he was hopelessly in love with Jamie. On the night of their graduation, Chris finally works up his courage and comes clean. A surprised Jamie tells Chris that she loves him too... like a brother. Then comes the dreaded "Just Friends" speech. Angry and humiliated, Chris storms off.
Ten years later, Chris has reinvented himself as a smooth talking lady killer, living large in Los Angeles. Circumstances bring him back to his home town and fate reconnects him with the "just friends" girl of his dreams. Suddenly, Chris has the chance to undo the past, but unbelievably, he finds it more difficult to romance Jamie than it was 10 years ago. Can one escape the clutches of the "friend zone?" Is it possible to go from "just friend" to boyfriend? Chris is about to find out the hard way.

Conquering 90% of the known world by the age of 25, Alexander the Great (Farrell) led his armies through 22,000 miles of sieges and conquests in just eight years. Coming out of tiny Macedonia, Alexander led his armies against the mighty Persian Empire, drove west to Egypt, and finally made his way east to India. This film will concentrate on those eight years of battles, as well as his relationship with his boyhood friend and battle mate, Hephaestion. Alexander died young, of illness, at 33. Alexander's conquests paved the way for the spread of Greek culture (facilitating the spread of Christianity centuries later), and removed many of the obstacles that might have prevented the expansion of the Roman Empire. In other words, the world we know today might never have been if not for Alexander's bloody, yet unifying, conquest.
Starring: Colin Farrell, Angelina Jolie, Val Kilmer, Anthony Hopkins, Jared Leto, Rosario Dawson, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers
The organizers of film festival "Spektrs" are offering an exclusive chance (five screenings only!) to see the film "Tom at the Farm" by the promising director Xavier Dolan!
The young Canadian director Xavier Dolan has been called both a wonder child and a terror child (enfant terrible) frequently enough – regardless of which of those is more true, the word "child" definitely applies because Dolan is only 25 years old, which is practically nothing for a director. Nevertheless, Dolan’s films could never be called childish. The psychological thriller with an American taste "Tom at the Farm" promises intrigues, tension, and provocations.
Tom, a young advertising copywriter, travels to the country for a funeral. There, he's shocked to find out no one knows who he is, nor who he was to the deceased, whose brother soon sets the rules of a twisted game. In order to protect the family's name and grieving mother, Tom now has to play the peacekeeper in a household whose obscure past bodes even greater darkness for his "trip" to the farm.
