Brian Volk-Weiss

Brian Volk-Weiss (born May 28, 1976, in Queens, New York) is the founder and CEO of Comedy Dynamics, running its production, development, management, and distribution departments. Dynamics is currently the largest producer and distributor of one-hour comedy specials in the United States (Kevin Hart, Aziz Ansari, Jim Gaffigan, Katt Williams, Craig Ferguson, Bill Burr, Dennis Miller, etc.) and has many TV shows (There's...Johnny coming to Seeso, Animal Planet's Animal Nation with Anthony Anderson, History's Join Or Die with Craig Ferguson, Coming To The Stage on Hulu, Wild 'N On Tour on MTV2 and MTV2's Spooning...With Zac Efron) on the air, and pilots in production, including the scripted drama The Novice for USA Network. In November 2013, two albums he produced (Craig Ferguson and Bob Saget) were nominated for Grammy Awards. In 2016, three of the five Grammy comedy record nominations he produced; Louis C.K., Craig Ferguson, and Lisa Lampanelli, of which Louie won. Rising up through the ranks as a manager, he shepherded the careers of some of the world’s hottest comics and produced films such as Employee of the Month, Good Luck Chuck, and My Best Friend’s Girl. He launched Comedy Dynamics during 2007 in order to distribute specials and albums. Along the way, he held the titles of Head of Production and President of Production before being named partner in 2013. 2017 saw him lead Nacelle’s spin off as a standalone entity. Throughout his career, he has landed in the pages of Forbes, The Hollywood Reporter, Rolling Stone, Marketplace, and The Interrobang. Career Volk-Weiss has overseen the New Wave Entertainment-produced TV series StevieTV, which aired on VH1, as well as Comcast's Bounce TV's Forever Jones, and Naked But Funny for FOX. Volk-Weiss also produced the movies Employee of the Month, Good Luck Chuck (starring Jessica Alba), and My Best Friend's Girl (2008) as well as produced five of Dane Cook's albums, two of which went double platinum and one went gold. In the past he has produced The Next Best Thing for ABC, Vicious Circle and "Tourgasm" for HBO, U.S. of ANT for MTV, The Ron White Show for Comedy Central and Long Distance Relationship for Sony TV. In December 2009, Lisa Carroll of Variety included Volk-Weiss in that magazine's "Dealmakers That Are Up Next" feature.Volk-Weiss has previously overseen production of LOGO's Skin Deep, MTV2's Crash Test Dummies, VH1's StevieTV, Discovery ID's True Grime: Crime Scene Cleaners, pilots for MTV, VH1, Sundance Channel, CMT, WEtv, and History (U.S. TV channel) as well as multiple one-hour comedy specials for HBO, Comedy Central, Showtime, and Netflix, including Kevin Hart, Aziz Ansari, Jim Gaffigan, Katt Williams, Dennis Miller, Bill Burr, DL Hughley, Tom Papa, Jim Norton, Kevin Nealon, and Craig Ferguson. In December 2017, the Volk-Weiss-created show, The Toys That Made Us, debuted on Netflix to critical acclaim. The 8-episode documentary series discusses the media-branded toy phenomenon that exploded in the late 20th-century. Season 2 of the series debuted on Netflix in May, 2018, and a third season episode list was confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con 2018.
