Lucas Edwin Babin (born July 30, 1979) is an American attorney, actor and fashion model. Lucas is the brother of best-selling author Leif Babin, and son of Republican Congressman Brian Babin. He is known for playing Spider in the Paramount Pictures film, School of Rock, and has appeared in world-wide advertisements for Gucci, Versace, Versace Jeans Couture, CK, Calvin Klein Jeans, Roberto Cavalli, Just Cavalli, GAP, Louis Vuitton, and other top fashion brands . He is currently an elected state prosecutor in Texas . Babin received his doctorate of jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law School . He received his undergraduate degree from Sam Houston State University. After completing law school, Lucas went to work with Sutliff & Stout, Injury and Accident Law Firm, to help individuals and families injured by the carelessness of others. After several years in Houston, Lucas moved to Woodville to help address the legal needs of his hometown community. In order to address problems at the district attorney’s office, Lucas ran for and was elected as the District Attorney of Tyler County, Texas. He is currently serving in that position. Lucas Babin is the only American to star in a Brazilian telenovela, appearing in nearly 100 episodes of the series America, on the Globo Network. He speaks Portuguese fluently. Babin was Paris Hilton's love interest in the music video "Stars Are Blind", as well as the knight in shining armor and boyfriend of Alanis Morissette in the 2002 music video for "Precious Illusions".
