Lara Dutta (born 16 April 1978) is an Indian actress, model and beauty queen who was crowned Miss Intercontinental 1997 and Miss Universe 2000. She was the second woman from India to be crowned Miss Universe, and has been the only delegate from India to win the crown since. Primarily known for her work in Hindi films, she has also appeared in Tamil language films. She is the recipient of several accolades including a Filmfare Award. After her reign as Miss Universe, she began to receive offers to act in films. Dutta made her Bollywood debut in 2003 with the romantic drama film Andaaz, which was a box office success and won her a Filmfare Best Female Debut Award. Dutta subsequently appeared and rose to prominence in several commercially successful productions, including Masti (2004), Kaal (2005), No Entry (2005), Bhagam Bhag (2006), Partner (2007), Housefull (2010), Don 2 (2011) and Singh Is Bliing (2015). Dutta has been critically appreciated for performances in the films Jhoom Barabar Jhoom (2007), Billu (2009), Chalo Dilli (2011) and David (2013). In addition to film acting, Dutta is involved with several humanitarian causes. She has participated in concert tours and stage shows. She was featured as a talent judge for the reality show High Fever. Dutta was also appointed as a UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador in 2001 Dutta offers a number of videos on YouTube and has also launched her own DVD which consists of prenatal routines and meditation techniques. Dutta is married to Indian tennis player, Mahesh Bhupathi with whom she has a daughter.
