Claire Brosseau (born Claire Elyse Brosseau; February 24, 1977 in Montreal, Quebec) is a Canadian actress, comedian, writer and podcaster. She attended a French middle school in Toronto and her mother taught her to read and write in English. She attended Beaconsfield High School in Montreal. She graduated with honours with disciplined studies in AP English as well as the linguistics, literary and cultural importance of Shakespeare. She was a provincial finalist in public speaking in French and English. She was given the Award of Excellence in drama and english. Brosseau attended John Abbott College in Montreal with concentrated studies in humanities and musical theatre. She was granted a scholarship to the Neighborhood Playhouse acting conservatory in New York City. There, Claire worked at a cabaret bar where she sang and performed her show ‘Thanks For the Mammaries’. She began working as a stand-up comic in Toronto and signed with Mark Breslin’s Yuk Yuk’s chain of clubs all over Canada and was a finalist on the Comedy Network’s Great Canadian Laugh-off. In 2003, she was nominated in the Best Actress category for a MECCA (Montreal English Circle Critics Award) for her portrayal of Louise in Daniel MacIvor's Marion Bridge. In 2010 Brosseau completed a year-long stunt fiction blog called ‘The Manbbatical’ which was printed in Toronto’s arts weekly Now Magazine. Claire lives in Los Angeles and has performed as an actor and comedian all over the world. Brosseau is a former Expos and current Toronto Blue Jays fanatic. At Angel Stadium she caught two foul balls in one game, one from Vernon Wells and the other from Cliff Pennington. Both of them had played for The Blue Jays though neither did at the time. She maintains that was the best day of her life, and she was featured on ESPN. She also caught a ball from former Blue Jay Edward Encarnacion in Cleveland when he played for The Indians. Claire Brosseau is a practicing Roman Catholic but is vocal about her divide regarding the church’s political stance in terms of the denial of basic human rights for women and the LGBTQ2S community. Brosseau has been a guest on several TV and radio talk shows. Her film credits include: Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002), My First Wedding (2004), Geraldine's Fortune (2004), Phil the Alien (2005), A Previous Engagement (2005), The Ecstasy Note (2006), Framed for Murder (2007), The Love of Her Life (2008), Girl's Best Friend, and Who is KK Downey? (2008). Her television credits include: Ciao Bella (2003), Petits mythes urbains (2004), Dr. Norman Bethune (2006), and The Business (2007). In 2007, Brosseau was chosen to represent Montreal in the Homegrown Competition at the international Just for Laughs comedy festival. In 2017, Brosseau began co-hosting the podcast Views From the 6ix with comedian Jamillah Ross. The podcast covers topics like, marijuana use, reality TV, life in Toronto, baseball, and dating.
