Mexican immigrant and single mother Flor Moreno finds housekeeping work with Deborah and John Clasky, a well-off couple with two children of their own. When Flor admits she can't handle the schedule because of her daughter, Cristina, Deborah decides they should move into the Clasky home. Cultures clash and tensions run high as Flor and the Claskys struggle to share space while raising their children on their own, and very different, terms.
"The Hours" is the story of three women searching for more potent, meaningful lives. Each is alive at a different time and place, all are linked by their yearnings and their fears. Their stories intertwine, and finally come together in a surprising, transcendent moment of shared recognition.
During the darkest years of the Great Depression, Braddock (Crowe) takes on various dead end jobs as a means to support his wife, Mae (Zellweger) and their children, but he never forgets his dream of boxing again. Then, due to a last minute cancellation, Braddock finds himself once again in the boxing ring, facing the second-ranked world contender, and to everyone's astonishment beats him in the 3rd round. Braddock continues on a string of successes, despite being pounds lighter than his opponents and suffering excessive damage to his hands. Nicknamed "Cinderella Man", he finally comes to face his toughest challenger yet, Max Baer (Bierko), the heavyweight champion of the world, renowned for killing two men in the ring. Looking for nothing more than to provide for his family, Braddock was a great man whose commitment to them spurred him on, ultimately elevating him to legend status.
