New York, 1974, fifty-year-old Chris (Clive Owen) has just been released on good behavior after several years in prison following a gangland murder. Reluctantly waiting for him outside the gates is his younger brother, Frank (Billy Crudup), a cop with a bright future. Chris and Frank have always been different, and their father, Leon (James Caan), who raised them alone, seems to favor Chris despite all his troubles. For Damien, every day is a fight against corruption and although it isn‟t apparent at first, he finds an unlikely ally in one of the last good souls of Brick Mansions, Lino, played by David Belle. Stuck in the unpredictable and dangerous concrete jungle of Brick Mansions, Lino battles everyday to live an honest life. A vigilante in his own right, he fights for a better overall community. Upon first meeting, their differences get the better of them and the thought of being allies seems nearly impossible. That is until Damien and Lino realize they share a mutual enemy: Tremaine. The duo comes from completely different worlds, whose paths never should have crossed. But when Tremaine kidnaps Lino‟s girlfriend, it sets in motion a chain of adrenaline-spiking events forcing the two to work together. Damien reluctantly accepts the help of the fearless, acrobatic ex- convict, and together attempt to stop a sinister plot to devastate the entire city. In the process, they learn that they have more in common than they initially realized. A grudging respect for one another leads to friendship as they begin to realize that what happens inside and outside of Brick Mansions is not what it seems.
As a child, Ali Neuman narrowly escaped being murdered by Inkhata, a militant political party at war with Nelson Mandela's African National Congress. Only he and his mother survived the carnage of those years. But as with many survivors, the psychological scars remain. Today, Ali is chief of the homicide branch of the South African police in Cape Town. Together they have to deal with crime that inevitably exists in sprawling areas of un -and under- employed people, crime exacerbated by gangs, both local and from other parts of Africa. Their job gets even more difficult when the corpses of two young women are found. A new evil has been introduced in the city and a new drug has been introduced to its residents, including both murder victims. At the chaotic crossroads where brutality and modernization collide, the echoes of apartheid still resound in the shadows of a society struggling toward reconciliation.
Asterix & Obelix are returning to the big screen this year with their first 3D animated feature.
The characters Asterix & Obelix have been popular ever since the first comic was released in 1959. A lot of movies have been made about the characters over the years, but this will be the first CG animated movie. The movie is based on the comic Asterix: Le Domain de Dievx (Land of the Gods) and the French animation studio–Mikros Images–provide the animation for this feature. Asterix: Land of the Gods will be directed by Louis Clichy and adapted by Alexandre Astier.
